Spencer Wells Y-Chromosomal Adam & Eve
Y Chromosome Adam or Scientific Adam is the most recent common ancestor to all men alive today. Just like Mitochondrial Eve and mitochondria, all Y-chromosomes trace back to a single man. Looking at the mutations of the Y chromosome from different areas around the world this "Adam" would have lived somewhere in Africa. Also by looking at what mutations a man has on his Y-chromosome you are able to determine where his paternal ancestors came from.
